eBook Publishing Process

Step 1 - Initial Submission

Provide a two-to-three paragraph summary of the work along with the table of contents.  Think of the summary as the liner notes found on book dust covers - this is what sells the book to consumers (and to publishers).

Tell us the category of literature in which you would like your work to be included (click on "Categories" at the left to see what we have so far).

You may submit these items by clicking here (You will be asked to log in, or to register if you are not yet registered).  If the summary is accepted, you will be requested to submit the entire manuscript for further review and final acceptance.

Step 2 - Submission of Entire Manuscript

If your initial submission is accepted, then you will need to submit your entire manuscript as described in the Manuscript Submission Requirements.

  1. All work must be submitted electronically here or on disk or CD and be free of Viruses. Please submit your work in either Rich Text Format (RTF), MS-Word 2000 or earlier, or HTML. Please include all graphic files with your work.

  2. Submit a copy of your Copyright registration. Most likely, the form you will need is Form TX or Short Form TX from the US Copyright Office's web site. This is used for literary works. The other forms are for items such as music, art, and newspapers.

To obtain the forms from the Copyright office, simply click on the following link to go to their web site and then select the "Forms" page: US Copyright Office.

In our Publishing Agreement, authors agree to file for the copyright registration and then send us a copy when it is received. We will publish your work while you are waiting for the registration from the Copyright Office. Please review our Copyright Policy.

Step 3 - eBook Conversion and Publishing

  1. Upon final acceptance of your edited, proofread manuscript, and after you have complied with ALL the items on the Manuscript Submission Requirements list, we will begin the preliminary conversion to eBook format.

  2. Your preliminary eBook draft will be created in HTML (web browser language) format and posted to a secret temporary location on our website for your review and approval. Note that this is NOT the time to be making wording changes or edits - your manuscript is converted "as-is." During this process, if we encounter any missing information or graphics, you will be notified by email.

  3. As of this date, we have not yet figured out a way to read minds, so you still need to tell us your color and font preferences! Any color or font choices you have previously made will be applied, otherwise we will use "default" colors and fonts (see #1 above).

  4. We will email you the secret web address for reviewing your eBook online. Please respond within ten (10) days with any formatting, layout, graphics, color, or font changes; or to tell us that the eBook is "good to go." This is an interactive process: as we make the requested changes, we will re-post those changes and you should respond with your approval or suggestions. WE WILL NOT PROCEED WITH THE PUBLISHING OF YOUR eBOOK UNTIL WE HAVE YOUR FINAL APPROVAL.

  5. The final step is converting the HTML pages to a self-contained eBook. There should be no further changes from this point on.

  6. Your eBook will now be posted for sale on WritersCloset.com at the price and discount you previously have set.
